Kanimozhi's bail: Karunanidhi questions democracy

DMK President and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Thursday said justice is being denied to his daughter Kanimozhi by not granting her bail, putting a question mark on Indian democracy. Karunanidhi said on Thursday that democracy was in threat citing the denial of bail and that the legal experts have expressed concern over the denial of bail to Kanimozhi by the CBI court.
Kanimozhi has been lodged in the Delhi's Tihar Jail in the 2G spectrum case since May 20, charged by the CBI as a co-conspirator in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
The DMK Chief was quoted as saying that even the Supreme Court  had stated that people like her are free to file the bail applications after framing charges.
He doubted whether any ideological or other inferences are hindering the bail for Kanimozhi seen in the context of views of legal experts in the Supreme Court.
Karunanidhi terming judiciary as the strong pillar for democracy was quoted as saying that if they are failing to protect the law then apprehensions shall arise in the minds of the people regarding the Indian democracy and its future.
He again added that the investigations in the 2G case are over and that the charges have been framed against her and the trial is set to commence.
The DMK leader said that even the CBI has submitted that it has no objection to grant bail to the accused who are suffering in the jail.
Referring to his daughter's petiton for bail in the Delhi Court which has adjourned the case to december 1, Karunanidhi hopes that his daughter would get justice soon.
