Katara murder: Vikas Yadav moves High Court for bail

On Wednesday, Vikas Yadav who has served life term along with cousin Vishal in Nitish Katara murder case moved the Delhi High Court seeking for bail to execute general power of attorney (GPA)) in favour of his mother.
In the bail plea, Yadav sought for an order suspending the life sentence awarded to him for four days by the trial court.
He claimed that his presence is required for preparation and the execution of GPA appointing his mother as the lawful attorney to manage and control the property purchased by him and his mother.
According to the petition filed in the year 1992, they had bought a property in Vasant Vihar and that his mother was facing difficulty in controlling the property without GPA.
The accused had earlier sought for an interim bail for a weeks period on the ground that there was a delay in the hearing of his plea by the High Court. However, the court refused to entertain the plea.
Vikas and Vishal had kidnapped Nitish Katara, an MBA graduate and son of an IAS officer on the night of February 16th , 2002, from a marriage party at Ghaziabad and later killed him.
Vikas was opposed to his sister Bharati's intimacy with Katara.
In June 2008, Vikas and Vishal Yadav were convicted by the trial court for the killing and sentenced to life imprisonment.
