Telengana protesters on Monday while rejecting the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's appeal threatened to intensify their allegation if the Centre does not immediately announce the formation of the state even as the TRS Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao declared that he may go on for a fast unto death.
After 30 minutes meeting with Rao, Singh and Joint Action Committee convener Prof Kodhandaram said they were not satisfied with the Prime Minister's response when he sought for some more time to settle the issue.
He told the reporters after the meeting that the Prime Minister had asked them to call off the agitation. People in Telangana are very angry and they have decided to not to celebrate any festivals. In short, people are dying every day for the cause of Telangana.
Rao said the delegation, that had members from his TRS party and also the JAC, told the Prime Minister that an "expedited" solution to the vexed issue should be found immediately.
Rao's 9-day fast in December 2009 had forced the Centre to announce initiation of process for Telangana state. But later it said that the situation had been altered and emphasized the need for further consultation.
He said that he understands the demand, the aspirations and sentiments of the people. But he did not give any assurance. He added that it will take some more time as the consultations are underway.
