Five killed, fifteen injured in fire-cracker explosion near Allahabad

Five people, including three women, were killed and fifteen were injured in an explosion in a house on Wednesday where fire crackers were being manufactured illegally for the Diwali festival.
The police said that the explosion took place at Mauaima in the trans-Ganga region, some 45 kms from Allahabad.
N R Verma, in charge of Mauaima police station said that a loud explosion was heard after the fire crackers caught fire. He also said adding that the fire soon engulfed the house.
SP Jai Prakash said that a woman died on the spot and four more succumbed to injuries in hospital.
The SP said that the fire crackers were being illegally manufactured in the house.
In Lucknow, UP DGP Brij Lal issued directives to district police heads to check the illegal sale, manufacture and storage of fire crackers ahead of Diwali.
