Supreme Court slams plea against Jayalalithaa

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition questioning the continuance in the office of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on account of her scheduled October 21 personal appearance before a trial court in a disproportionate assets case.
A bench of justices Dalveer Bhandari and Dipak Mishra said while the petition as frivolous while dismissing it.
The Apex Court passed the order, after the counsel Manohar Lal Shara, appeared for the petitioner and sought permisison to amend the petition and submitted that the Chief Minister being the head of the government and the prosecution agency was bound to influence the course of the trial.
