Kerala CM promises to rehabilitate minor victim of sex abuse

The Kerala Government will meet all the expenses required to rehabilitate the minor girl who was forcibly raped by more than 100 people, Chief Minister Ooman Chandy said. More than 40 people having been arrested, including her parents.

Chandy has written to Congress legislator V.D. Satheesan, who had sought the chief minister's intervention into the probe, promising that it would do all it can do to help the victim. Chief Minister also promised to give all the necessary medical care she is needed and also promised her safety and security. The District Collector and District Superintendent of police have been asked to work out a plan for this.

The alleged sexual abuse is alleged to take place two years ago, when the girl was just 14 years old. It came to light this year, after the victim's parents complained it to police. Since then, 48 people have been arrested.

These include her father as well, who forced her into sex so that she could get a chance to act in movie, and her mother who concealed the crime. The other people involved in the crime are middle-level politicians, agents, an Arab national, a doctor and some from the film industry.

A senior police official reported that, more than 60 people from the rich and mighty was yet to be arrested.

The girl is currently lodged in an undisclosed location and is undergoing counselling. She is keen on resuming her studies.
