Sikkim High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran resigns

Facing charges of corruption and judicial misconduct, Sikkim High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran resigned from the post. The resignation comes a day ahead of the hearing of a three-member inquiry committee appointed by Rajya Sabha Chairman to probe into charges of land grabbing and procuring of assets not proportionate to his income.

The sources said that the 61 year old Justice Dinakran is believed to have send his resignation to the president Pratibha Patil. The sources also claims that he was not happy with his resignation and at the same time he also felt that is continuance would harm the judiciary.

Justice Dinakaran, who failed to get any relief from the Supremem Court after various attempts to baffle the committee proceedings did not succeed, does not have faith in the impartiality of the panel. Sources added that this was one of the reason for his resignation.
