Download Pwnage 3.1 Tool to Unlock iPhone Firmware 3.1

After all this wait, the iPhone dev team has finally released the Jailbreaking and unlock tool for the iPhone OS 3.1 firmware, and this is no less than a treat for all iPhone users out there.

As instructed by the dev team, since the Apple's update process is a little complex for those on the iPhone 3GS so the current Pwnage Tool 3.1 for Mac OS X will only be able to Jailbreak the iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 1G and hence unlock both the iPhone 2G and 3G using Ultrasnow.

Here are some important points mentioned by the iPhone dev team before using PwnageTool 3.1:

• If you are using a 3G iPhone with ultrasn0w and rely on ultrasn0w to obtain cellular service, then you should only upgrade to 3.1 with a PwnageTool created .ipsw.
• If you have an iPhone 1st Gen then 3.1 unlock works with this PwnageTool release.
• This version of PwnageTool will NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
• PwnageTool WILL work for Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G.

For now the iPod Touch 2nd, 3rd Generation and the iPhone 3GS are not supported. A Redsnow tool will soon be available for both Mac OS X and Windows.
