New York prosecutors rejects to step down

The New York prosecutor handling the sexual assault case against former International Monetary fund Chief Dominique Strauss Kahn has rejected calls to step-down.

Attorneys representing the hotel maid who accuses Strauss Kahn of attempted rape asked the New York District Attorney Cyrus on Wednesday to rescue himself from the case. They stated that Vance leaked information damaging the credibility of their client.

On Wednesday the two sides met to discuss the case, which was later jeopardized last week after several media reports cast doubt on the testimony and alleged character of the victim.

The ex-IMF Chief was released from house arrest in New York, after prosecutors stated that they had made changes about what she did immediately after the alleged attack by Strauss Kahn and also she did not disclose the fact that she was already raped and hence this made a bad remark on her character.

In addition to it, a law enforcement official also said that there have been evidences against maid, where she had made certain telephonic conversations with her boyfriend, where possibly she was talking about making money form this.

Strauss Kahn has denied the charges. He is due to appear in a New York court on July 18.
