Batcha's death was murder and not suicide- CBI

It has been disclosed by the top CBI official that, the death of Sadhick Batcha, a close associate of jailed former Telecom Minister A. Raja, primafacie appears to be a case of murder and not suicide as claimed by the local police of Chennai.

It is on the basis of the close scrutiny of the crime and other circumstantial evidence collected during the period of investigation, the assumptions were made by the agency.

From the Tamil Nadu police, the investigation was taken over by CBI on 5th of April.

The scene of crime was recently visited by the Chennai base CBI officials. Also, in order to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to his death, these officials conducted a close examination of the same.

At present, the report on the viscera (internal organ) and other chemical analysis are keenly awaited by the agency officials to establish their preliminary assumption, especially as the CBI's findings are completely different from the Chennai forensic surgeon. Dr. Dekal's post-mortem report, which reported that Batch has committed suicide and the cause of death was asphyxia.

On 17th of March, body of Batcha, who was areal exchange dealer was found hanging at his Chennai residence. Since on four occasions the CBI had questioned him on the issues relating to the 2G scam case, especially relating to investments made by Raja-before his sudden death, a huge uproar had been caused by the same.

The Supreme Cort monitering the 2G scam case had directed the CBI to take up the probe into Batcha's death due to the controversies that was surrounding with hid death and his key financial links with Raja.

In the 2G scam case, Batch was a key component and four times he was questioned by the agency in order to find the money trial of Raja's income that was generated from his alleged wheeling dealings.

Also, Batcha's house and office were raided and he was also contemplated to be turning into the agency's key witness in the case.
