How To Install OS X Lion On Your PC With UniBeast All-In-One Bootable USB Drive

How To Install OS X Lion On Your PC With UniBeast All-In-One Bootable USB Drive

If you’ve ever attempted to install OS X Lion onto your PC (a process known as hackintosh), you will be aware that although the result is pretty good, the effort required to get you there is quite high in what is a rather tedious process.

Firstly, you will need a copy of OS X Lion (downloadable from the Mac App Store or attainable via the official Lion USB flash drive), and a separate 8GB (or more) flash drive.
Additionally, you will need UniBeast, which can be downloaded from here.
Step 1: Firstly, you’ll need to create a bootable USB drive using UniBeast. Open/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and highlight your USB drive on your Mac.
Step 2: Next, click the Partition tab, then Current and opt for 1 Partition. Then, click Options and select Master Boot Record.
Step 3: Change Name to ‘USB’ (can use any name, but we’ll use USB for the benefit of this tut), and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as your format. Once you’re done, select Applyfollowed by Partition.
NOTE: If you’re using the Install Mac OS X Lion Application, be sure to check that it’s been placed in the /Applications folder. If you’re instead using the OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive, plug it in.
Step 4: Download and run UniBeast. Continue through the first few steps.
Step 5: At Destination Select, click USB and then Continue.
Step 6: Select the package name of the method you’ll be using to install as depicted below. Laptop users will need to select the Laptop Support in addition. Once that’s done, hit Continue.
Step 7: Enter password and click Install. Depending on the speed of your system and the flash drive, it could take up to 15 minutes.
Step 8: Boot from your freshly prepared USB flash drive and install.

Windows 8, the latest operating system released by Microsoft. See how Windows 8 looks like.

Eight years have passed since Microsoft came up with a new vision in terms of operating system. Distributions followed radically changed from what was used to receive the user before. Windows Vista and Windows 7 were the versions that announced a new era in the development of the Windows operating system. Now, after eight years of changes, Microsoft is back to basics with the launch of Windows 8.

Windows 8

Microsoft announced on September 14 the launch of Windows 8, designed to run on both PCs and touch screen devices and which is based on Metro concept, a concept used by Microsoft in Windows Phone 7.

Perhaps, beyond the concept design and brand new, Windows 8 has as strength points adaptability at devices with touch screen, tablets, and the speed with which it opens and closes: it needs only 8 seconds to start .

Windows 8 lock screen

Also, Start menu, as we knew it in Windows 7 disappears and the desktop user can bring that information wants to have on hand. Being adapted for device's touch screen, Windows 8 has a virtual keyboard, directly on the screen, making the touch screen technology user experience much easier.

Windows 8 Boot Time

Other notable and wonderful things at Windows 8 is the speed with which it opens and closes, probably because the new concept of running applications, completely new version of Internet Explorer 10 store applications and integrated antivirus.

Threat to Windows. Operating systems which can run in the cloud

Google said it is launching an operating system that all your data will be loaded into a personal account online. Apple came up with a similar system, iCloud.

The idea to put your data in the cloud is not new. Instead of physical hard disk, there will be a virtual cloud that will store your photos, favorite music, files and personal documents. That will happen with the launch of laptops that will work with Chrome OS operating system.

Steve Jobs presented ICloud, which will provide, for the beginning, a space of 5GB (about 400 pictures, books and documents and about 700 songs).

In fall, those who want a bigger cloud, to put more data online, can buy more space from Apple. Such data storage services already have Microsoft and HP.

Even if Chrome OS operating system that only works via the Internet has just been announced, there was already a pretty big competition, there are some programs more than five years.

Here are the most common: CloudMe, EyeOS, Glide and JoliOS.

All of this, at least with one year before Windows 8.

Windows 8 will have lower system requirements than Windows 7

The news that Windows 8 will not need any hardware upgrade and it will have the same or lower system requirements as Windows 7 does comes as a relief for users of Microsoft operating systems.

This might be because Microsoft could try to create an operating system suitable for both tablets and for PCs. The result would be lower hardware requirements, knowing that a tablet has weaker hardware features than a computer.

Windows 8 is the codename for the next version of Microsoft Windows operating system.

According to officials, Windows 8 will be at the same level or even below, so users that are satisfied with how their PC's are running Windows 7, will certainly be satisfied and how to run future OS of the giant from Redmond on the same configuration.

windows 8

Remember that the minimum system requirements for Windows 7:

- 1 GHz processor

- 1 GB RAM (for versions of OS 32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit version)

- 16 GB free space on HDD / SSD (32 bit) or 20 GB (64 bit)

- Video card with DirectX 9 and WDDM drivers or newer.

Microsoft is expected to reveal more information about Windows 8 at BUILD event, intended for developers, which will take place in September 2011.

Windows 8 will not replace Windows 7 but will be marketed in parallel. The launch of the OS will be in the summer of 2012. The RTM (Release to Manufacturer) version could be launched even in April 2012.

Top 10+ Free Games for Windows Mobile

When we think of Windows Mobile Game or check the online reviews of the Best Pocket PC Games we usually come across the same old stuff. Thats why I m now posting a list of windows mobile games. Hope you like it!

Solterra -First up is an amazing 3D space shooter. This game is designed to run on Windows Mobile PDAs with an Intel 2700g graphics accelerator, so it's pretty much just for Dell Axim X50v/X51v users.

NetHack -While we're on nostalgic games, let's not forget NetHack. This role-playing game has been ported to almost as many systems as Doom. It runs on DOS, Linux, Mac, and Windows systems. And of course, Windows Mobile. In fact, the game has been ported to run on everything from Windows CE 2.11 for handheld or Palm-Sized PCs to Windows Mobile 5.0.

Death Drive– Who doesn’t love a little vehicular combat? Death Drive brings Carmageddon like combat to your Windows Mobile powered device.

Kevtris – What is mobile gaming without at least one version of Tetris?

Pocket Heroes – Pocket Heroes is a Heroes of Might and Magic game clone for Pocket PC. It may be a bit simple for some, but still a lot of fun.

Realms– A space based shooting game that might remind you a bit of the old Asteroids arcade game, but only in concept. Multiple ships to choose from and numerous levels to explore.

Egoman -is a re-imagining of Pac-man as a first-person shooter. The graphics are pretty decent, and the motion seems to zip along smoothly on a reasonably fast PDA. It's takes a little too long for our tastes to turn around, meaning that you'll probably never see Blink, Pinky, Inky and Clyde as they come to steal your soul, or whatever it is that they do.

Project GD - is a top-down shooter that puts Space Invaders to shame. The only problem is that the game ends pretty abruptly.

DopeWars -There's nothing that can quite describe the feeling of playing DopeWars while waiting for jury duty. The beauty of mobile gaming is that nobody can tell what you're playing unless they're super nosy and go out of their way to look over your shoulder. The graphics aren't particularly impressive, but you get two types of Tetris, Snake, Cannons, a Jawbreak clone, an Arkanoid clone, and two types of Mahjong.

PDAmill -Peter Balogh, the developer of these games now works for PDAmill, makers of several new Gameboxes with better graphics and more distraction power.

Xonix -is another classic game that's been ported to Windows Mobile. You control a spider that has to scramble across a board while avoiding monsters. The goal is to cut the board into sections without letting monsters touch the spider or its web.

Windows Virtual PC BIOS utility

windows 7As you know, the most thrilling feature in Windows 7 is its Windows Virtual PC, letting you run Windows XP operating system on your computer under a virtual environment, just in case you own a lot of old software you can not get rid of. This virtual machine acts like a real physical PC, so you are supposed to get all the nice utilities, applications and options a real computer has got, including its BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) utility.

First of all let me tell you that Windows Virtual PC is equipped with AMIBIOS. In order to gain access to the BIOS utility configuration screen in the Windows Virtual PC in Windows 7, all you have to do is to turn off the integration features, temporarily. Here is the brief step-by-step procedure:

* Start the virtual machine where you want to gain access to the BIOS utility from.
* On the window, in the menu bar, click Tool.
* Now, click Disable Integration Features.
* In the menu bar, click Action.
* Now, Select Restart to reboot your virtual machine.
* During the bootup, the virtual machine, acting like a real computer, will perform a power-on self-test, a diagnostic check to see if everything is allright.
* During such a check, press Del key in order to access BIOS Setup Utility.

How to Access Additional Hidden Regional Themes in Windows 7

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v374/vishaal_here/Windows%207/Windows7logo.png

Windows 7 comes with lots of new themes which can be accessed using Desktop Personalization window. You'll see "Architecture, Characters, Landscapes, Nature and Scenes" themes along with an extra regional theme. This regional theme depends upon your region which you selected while installing Windows 7.

Also check:

Get Windows 7 Free - Host a Windows 7 Party !!

20+ Best Windows 7 Themes [ Download Themes]

As you can see in above screenshot, an extra regional theme for "United States" is available in Desktop Personalization window.

Similarly, there are a few other themes available for different regions like Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and South Africa.

Windows 7 automatically installs this extra regional theme according to the region selected by the user and hides other regional themes from the user.

Why does Windows 7 hide these extra regional themes from user? No idea. But don't worry, today we are going to share a small trick to access all these hidden regional themes in Windows 7.

METHOD A:

Windows 7 puts all these regional themes in "MCT" folder which is stored under "%windir%\Globalization" folder.

1. First open My Computer and copy-paste following text in addressbar:

%windir%\Globalization\MCT

Press Enter and it'll directly go to "MCT" folder which is actually a hidden folder.

NOTE: Here %windir% represents "Windows" directory present in system drive where Windows 7 is installed, most probably C: drive.

Alternatively, you can go to "Windows\Globalization" folder and then type MCT in addressbar and press Enter. It'll open the folder.

2. You'll see following 5 folders in MCT folder:

MCT-AU
MCT-CA
MCT-GB
MCT-US
MCT-ZA

3. Open each folder one by one and you'll see a "Theme" folder present in all these 5 folders. Under this "Theme" folder, you'll see a .theme file. You just need to double-click on this .theme file and Windows will automatically apply it and will also store it in "Personalization" window.

You can also copy all these .theme files to "%windir%\Resources\Themes" folder (here %windir% represents "Windows" directory present in system drive where Windows 7 is installed, most probably C: drive.) and Windows will add them to Personalization window.

To copy all these five .theme files in a single step, type *.theme in Explorer search box while you are in "%windir%\Globalization\MCT" folder. Windows will list all five .theme files. Now you can copy and paste them in "%windir%\Resources\Themes" folder.

That's it. Now you can access all these additional regional themes from Personalization window:

METHOD B:

You can also use a simple registry script to add all these regional themes automatically in Personalization window. Simply download following ZIP file, extract it and run "Add Additional Regional Themes in Windows 7.REG" file. It'll ask for confirmation, accept it:

Download Registry Script

Once you run the file, it'll add the additional regional themes in Personalization window:

PS: An uninstallation script is also included in the ZIP file in case you want to remove additional regional themes later.

Minimize Windows to Icons in Snow Leopard

Ever since the birth of OS X, the operating system minimized each window to its own special place on the Dock, meaning every time you minimized something, your dock got a little more cluttered. That's no longer the case in Snow Leopard.

All-things-Apple blog TUAW noticed a new checkbox in the Dock preferences that allows you to minimize windows into the application icon rather than to the special section of the Dock. Apart from keeping your Dock a little cleaner, that also means your icons won't shrink smaller and smaller the more apps you minimize.

The trade-off is that you can no longer easily see just how many windows you've minimized, but accessing the minimized windows is easy enough. You can either fire up Exposé, in which minimized icons will show up as smaller windows, or you can click and hold on any icon in the Dock to bring up an application-specific Exposé, again displaying minimized windows a little bit smaller.

It's not a huge change, but if you'd prefer to keep your Dock a little more streamlined, open up Dock preferences (right-click your Dock's divider and select Dock Preferences and tick the checkbox Minimize windows into application icon.

Snow Leopard tip: Minimize to icon
