Windows 7, the next Microsoft operating system, is not out yet even though some rumor says it will be on shop shelves by the end of 2009. Anyway, there are already a good quantity of nice tricks and hacks to improve it. Today I want to speak about a nice hack which will let you customize Windows 7 log-on background easily. Basically, you will be able to load any images to the log-on background without buying any third-part software.
* Click Start.
* In the Search bar, type regedit and press Enter.
* Locate the following key: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\ Background key.
* Double-click in the right-pane and create a new DWORD called OEMBackground.
* Set this new key to 1.
* If the key already exsit, just make sure it is set to 1.
* Right after that, you need to create a folder called %windir%\system32\oobe\info\backgrounds.
This folder mentioned above will be able to support the following files:
backgroundDefault.jpg
background768×1280.jpg (0.6)
background900×1440.jpg (0.625)
background960×1280.jpg (0.75)
background1024×1280.jpg (0.8)
background1280×1024.jpg (1.25)
background1024×768.jpg (1.33-)
background1280×960.jpg (1.33-)
background1600×1200.jpg (1.33-)

background1920×1200.jpg (1.6)
